Beginnings of Alpine

1978

  • Sales subsidiary, Alpine Electronics GmbH, was formed in Germany.
  • Company name changed to Alpine Electronics, Inc.
  • Sales subsidiary, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., was formed in United States.
  • Alpine established a domestic sales department to provide after-sales services for OEM components installed to Honda Prelude model automobiles.

1979

  • Sales subsidiary, Alpine Electronics of Canada, Inc., was formed in Canada.

1981

  • We co-developed the electro Gyrocator, the world's first car navigation system, with Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

1982

  • The LS-5 series computer-controlled car audio component won the Good Design award.


1985

  • Sales subsidiary, Alpine Electronics of UK Ltd., was formed in United Kingdom.

1986

  • Manufacturing subsidiary, Alpine Electronics Manufacturing of America, Inc., was formed in United States.
  • Sales subsidiary, Alpine Electronics France S.A.R.L., was formed in France.

1987

  • New company building was completed at Industrial Park, Iwaki.
  • Sales subsidiary, Alpine Electronics of Australia Pty, Ltd., was formed in Australia.
